Press Release: RiT Tech becomes Latest Member of the SDIA

SDIA welcomes RiT Tech as its newest member

Israeli vendor contributes deep expertise in sustainable infrastructure management

Hamburg, Germany, July 2021 – The Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance (SDIA) has joined forces with RiT Tech, a company known for its universal intelligent infrastructure management (UIIM) approach to configuring and managing data centers. Max Schulze, Executive Chairman of SDIA, is delighted to welcome RiT Tech to the Alliance. “RiT Tech is known for its expertise in managing data centers, which is essential for a more sustainable digital infrastructure.”

Greening the global digital economy
Established in 2019, SDIA is a nonprofit network of more than 60 organizations working to catalyze the transition to sustainable digital infrastructure. It aligns all actors of the digital ecosystem – from industry to governments to suppliers to consumers – on the mission of decarbonizing the global digital economy and realizing their Roadmap to Sustainable Digital Infrastructure by 2030. Schulze: “We aim to promote an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable digital economy. At the same time, we highlight the growth of the global digital infrastructure sector, which ranks second to aviation when it comes to carbon emissions.”

“It is our insatiable demand for data that ultimately drives the growth of the data center sector as well as its connection to sustainable digital infrastructure. By 2024, we will be using around 149 zetabytes of data, and we will have over 3.5 million data centers across the globe", said Jeff Safovich, Head of Product & Innovation at RiT Tech. “Given the exponential growth of computing power and data, a sustainable digital infrastructure is key to our planet's future.”

"We joined SDIA in order to take part in and contribute to sustainability transformation," said Assaf Skolnik, RiT Tech’s CEO. “Data collected from all layers of digital infrastructure (including electromechanical systems, IT hardware, connectivity, and software) forms the basis for assessing sustainability metrics, defining measurable goals, and mapping an actionable course to their achievement. Lastly, smart automations and proactive future-proof planning are necessary to achieve actual execution.”

Green IT Innovation Lab
With competitive and sustainable digital infrastructure, the Alliance aims to enable a thriving digital ecosystem without negatively impacting the environment. SDIA recently merged with Green IT Amsterdam to establish an Innovation Lab in Amsterdam that focuses on research and innovation projects seeking to implement and develop new technologies that reduce the environmental impact of digital infrastructure. An interesting example of this is the LEAP Program, which aims to reduce the power consumption of IT servers by optimizing the power management settings.
